That's really bleak and I don't even feel like popular perception has caught up yet. How unpopular can they get?

The question is when do they actually respond with rational actions. So far its people on the edges not party people that get it for the most part.
If I had to guess they need a Trump. By that I mean they need an outsider to come in and steal the party by sheer force of popularity by giving the people what they want. Trump did this with the Republicans. I still say he isn't even a Republican. Not really.
