Respectfully I disagree that Signal is deepstate. Its open source and the tech has been hammered one. This line of argument is exactly the same as the bitcoin is deepstate. If I believed this I would not be a bitcoiner. Massive amounts of encryption and protocols have the deepstate all over them. If they are open source and have enough eyes on them it doesn't matter. I see this raised over and over again and I think its missing the point of open source. Blind trust is foolish yes, but also guilt by association is as well.
Now, what is possible is that governments have been involved in both bitcoin and Signal. I suspect this is true for bitcoin and I know this is true for Signal. It doesn't matter.
But, the lesson is this. IRL conversations are more secure. Every message you send in Signal is a risk because you are trusting the other person and that their phone is not compromised. Signal is really not the issue. The phones themselves are the issue alone with humans. So I would never trust Signal with my life if I feared the US state or an actor operating on their behalf.

For the record Bitcoin was not created by the deep state, that is such a stupid narrative. I think we agree here.
