TL:DR

Entergy Louisiana reported Tuesday that infrastructure upgrades have been completed to support the Richland Parish region in Louisiana, as well as a four-million-square-foot Meta data center, representing a $10 billion investment.

“This project reflects the kind of forward-thinking investment that drives growth in our communities,” said Phillip May, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana. “Not only are we supporting one of the world’s leading technology companies as they build right here in Richland Parish, but we’re also strengthening the grid for our existing customers and creating economic opportunities across the region.”

The construction project, which Entergy said was completed safely ahead of schedule, is part of the company’s long-term commitment to support economic development in the region and ensure a strong and resilient electric system.

The completed work will help deliver 10 megawatts (MW) of power — enough to meet the construction needs of Meta’s state-of-the-art facility, according to Entergy Louisiana, which is also making improvements to increase power reliability and resilience.

Among the project’s highlights are upgrades to a key distribution line that will improve electric service for local customers, making the system more resilient to outages and weather events.

Entergy also said that the project has already paid approximately $3 million to Louisiana-based contract partners and $150,000 to local landowners for land rights needed to complete construction.

Regarding community investment, Entergy said construction included rebuilding nearly five miles of electric lines and installing advanced voltage regulation equipment, ensuring both Meta and nearby communities benefit from reliable power.

Execution of the work was handled by a team of local engineers and construction partners, including Chain Electric Company of West Monroe; Hunt, Guillot and Associates of Ruston; and RC Boring of Cottonport, among others.

“Projects of this magnitude bring benefits to all customers, including families, small businesses, and communities throughout northeast Louisiana,” May said. “We’re building the future of energy, and we’re doing it in a way that lifts up everyone.”

Meta brining energy and stability to the citizens of Louisiana! Zuck is getting it done his way. But for a 100k+ BTC project one must wonder are the Louisiana business partners and land owners getting a raw deal? Not even 1% of the spend is going to them. And I’m sure Meta got some fat tax incentive deal to further pillage the people. Overall big tech just like the military always wins.

This is how it always works, everywhere...fat contracts, tax breaks, the big ones get even bigger...and nobody cares about the life of the average person...
