I just paid out 7,500 sats in #959013:

So this means that I decided to do the following:

I will pay any Reddit link about SN that has some engagement at least 1,000 sats!

What "some engagement" means will be determined on a case-by-case basis but the two examples above should give you a rough idea what I'm looking and willing to pay for.

However, I will add one restriction: The post or comment must not be older than 1 month.

If you're unsure if your Reddit link is eligible for a bounty, submit it and if I didn't pay you, I will tell you why. You can also submit multiple links.

I'll save you some sats! here you'll find all the links on reddit, I scraped the whole thing ;) In total SN has 82 mentions (including Stacker News and links to stacker.news and link to post that have been moderated/deleted)

Here the full list as csv and below, a summary of the most relevant:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1jd70bm/do_you_think_satoshi_lurks_in_this_sub/

  • contains 2 comment by @Solomonsatoshi with 3 upvotes each
  • shared in r/Bitcoin
  • in a post with 19 upvotes and 124 comments
  • contain link to stacker.news
  • 1 month old

And here the oldest, maybe the first SN reference on reddit

You may also want to check this and this in r/Bitcoin by @CiaranCarroll (Top 1% Commenter) 2 months ago

Other links can be found onr/stackernews (that was good idea btw) and other links by @ssaurel that share Bitcoin Optech Newsletter links to SN

This is useful for analysis by @ek and @k00b about what actually worked well and what didn't in terms of the posts. At the same time I'm guessing @ek isn't looking for past posts, but rather for new posts ;)

I did mention that Reddit links from a month ago are fine so the ones who have been sharing links to SN on Reddit a month ago already can also get paid, but I did not consider that people would find existing SN links on Reddit from other people. I want them to link to SN themselves like unofficial ambassadors.

I will create a new bounty post to clarify that.

reply

Hey, thanks for this list! Did you enter site:stacker.news in the Reddit search to find them?

reply

no, using a script scraping the whole site. it also search for Stacker News mentions.

reply

Did @ek switch to the growth role?

reply

No, I am just taking growth more seriously now

reply

Make sure to measure it well and write down all the hypotheses that you are trying to test :)

reply

Good job. I like it.

reply

Thank you

I keep getting distracted. I want to spend some time on my SN growth ideas and gathering more data from nostr and bitcoin twitter about people's impressions of SN.

Just share sn links everywhere! Make it a wrapper for everything.

reply

Mhh, maybe you are right and I should pay for any external link to SN with some engagement. 🤔

I'll consider it, thanks!

reply

Ya for sure! It can always lead back to comments later. When they come back.

reply

Imo - post the best SN posts to HN...

reply

Mhh, I had kind of given up on HN but maybe worth a shot

Especially since it doesn’t cost anything to post on HN hehe

reply

There may be other people on HN that are ready to give up and go to SN 😅

reply

True. I will start sharing original SN content that the crowd on HN could be interested in. Posts from @elvismercury come to mind. They could also be interested in the discussion in the comments.

reply

I came here from Reddit, but that’s over 2 years ago now, and I doubt I could determine the post/comment that brought me here

reply

the older post I found was 2-3 months old, so I doubt you find SN on reddit 2y ago. but it could be! Do you remember finding a link on reddit or was maybe x?

reply

I don’t know if it was a link or just someone naming it. I believe it was in reference to the LN Tip bot which allowed you to tip others users via lightning. I don’t think it was X because I didn’t/don’t use X

reply

I actually signed up via a link on reddit, then I referred others

reply

I just found this post...what should I do? ;)
If I write an article about SN on Reddit, do I have to copy the link here?
