- A German Shepherd Was the First Service Dog In 1928, Buddy (originally named Kiss), a female German Shepherd, became the service dog for a young blind man named Morris Frank. Her work launched the service dog movement in the United States.
- They have their own sport Schutzhund was developed in Germany in the early 1900s as an aptitude test for German Shepherds
- Batman also had a German Shepherd

I had one when I was a young girl, but she ate a stupid bone a neighbor gave and it splintered while biting then that piece of bones pierced her intestines or tore them not entirely sure because I was very young. She died shortly after, she seemed like she would have been a sweetheart of a dog.

Great example of how humans create a breed with hip problems just for aesthetic.
Not sure why they were selecting the dogs with a lower back part.
