If I had never studied aeronautics and large aviation systems (large commercial aircraft) I would have never 'got' Bitcoin. It makes me wonder - had my life taken a different turn, educationally, personally, professionally... would I have never 'got' (ie understood) the importance of Bitcoin?

Maybe not. Maybe that's why there are 'relatively' so few people who are into Bitcoin for its fundamentals and merits - it takes a combination of professional and personal perspective to really 'catch' onto it after which it just makes so much sense.
