Maybe publicly but those of us doing policy esp in fusion, fission, and other Department of Energy areas realize it’s a short term win for a long term loss… fact of the matter is unless we do this stuff in America which is going to cost a ton of government money in basic R&D it is easier to get it from someone like Ukraine. Most other easier places fall under the China sphere so this is a true market we could easily tap.
It would be such an easy win win for us monetarily speaking and American First as well
Also this doesn’t factor in how Ukraine is blowing the world out of the water when it comes to rapid drone development. The US should easily partner with them in the development and innovation taking place cause it’s leaving the US, China, and Russia in the dust
I don't see how the negotiating position is even remotely on Zelensky's side here. Ukraine is completely cooked without US support.

Those aren't even remotely similar situations. The population of the conquered territory is already essentially Russian. Holding it will barely be an inconvenience.
I've never been convinced that they even want to hold the rest of Ukraine, but they can unleash much more destruction upon it than they have already.

I was just thinking about the newly conquered territory, but I don't think they'll have any trouble holding Crimea either.

Ehhh there issue there is that the bridge that they currently have... no one in the West would build.... hell I dont even think China would... the land bridge is under constant threat of bombardment now by Ukraine with the Frankin Sam system... I mean it is quite remarkable what they have done and developed.
Ukraine has the stronger navy in this war and they dont even have any real ships beyond mostly river based designs. Last time I checked they had even reclaimed several oil platforms from the Russians.
