I watched about two minutes of the combine workouts before getting bored but here is a good article from ESPN that recaps which players performed well on Day 1.
I would not be against the 49ers taking James Pearce Jr at 11. I would prefer OT or a trade back and taking a DT but Edge is definitely a position of need as well. It's a very deep Defensive Tackle draft so it might be worthwhile to hold off until the 2nd or 3rd round for DT. I like the LB Jihad Campbell as well for the 49ers but 11 is way too early to take him and he won't be available at 43. It's likely that the only way the 49ers get Campbell would be a trade back, trade up scenario where they trade back from 11 and then use the acquired draft capital to trade up from 43. I don't mind that idea at all but they will need a couple willing dance partners to make it happen.
I will post another 49ers mock draft later today.
Sats for all, GR
It feels like Stafford was the main focus of the combine, so far.

That would be a big trade if he got moved to the Raiders. Rams get the cap space and draft capital back and the Raiders solve their QB need for the next couple seasons and Stafford makes them a potential playoff contender. I like the idea for both teams.
Plus, if they have a QB, aren't sold on Sanders and Graham or Hunter aren't available at 6, they could trade back and potentially get Dart later in first. I don't think Dart will fall to the second round. QBs always get bumped up. Who knows what happens between now and the draft. If 49ers can't get a deal that works for them with Purdy maybe they take Dart at 11.

The reporting is that the Raiders and Stafford have already agreed on contract terms, but that doesn't mean the Rams will make the trade.

They probably should. They are a pretty good team and have some nice young pieces but Stafford is getting older and doesn't fit the timeline of their young guys. They need to plan for the future. If they were a Super Bowl contender it would be different but they are probably a fringe playoff team.

The big issue is how much they insist on for him. It would make no sense for the Raiders to trade a 1st for Stafford (at least not this year's 1st). Maybe a 3rd and 2nd round swaps?
reply
Definitely wouldn't trade the 6th overall pick for him. Not when you have to sign him to a massive contract as well.
I these articles are mostly for marketing (paid articles), and don't present the reality 100%. Some players will be traded, and to build a "brand" around a player, it needs to be promoted very early (in media, TV, social media, etc). So...I don't pay priority importance to this type of articles

Ultimately no one knows for sure where guys will go but it is fun to speculate.
