I honestly don't care at all about the bias. If Democrats want to get in there and hack away at the right's beloved projects, while exposing their malfeasance, I'll cheer for them too.

You're absolutely right about the nature of the problem. I've known plenty of federal workers and they've all been perfectly ordinary people. This is an issue of us being way out on an ideological fringe that most people don't share. When they're looking for jobs, the feds are just viewed as one amongst many options.

Yeah, start chopping on either side of the tree. Either is fine by me.

Reminds me of that CEO that says he is a long time Dem. He said the Dems are committing suicide(I agree). He wants them to JOIN DOGE and partner with them to help root out fraud, waste, and abuse instead of fighting that effort. On an optics level that makes sense from a non-cynical view.

reply

The Democrats and bureaucrats really couldn't be losing the optics battle any worse if they were trying to.

Do you think that they are playing to their audience? Maybe, they can’t figure a way to disconnect themselves from the far-left enough to make some independent moves. If they lose the far-left they are SOL. There would be no way for them to recover for.a long time.

reply

I think they are legitimately this out of touch.

reply

That is a pretty damning statement. They must have someone that is semi-rational around to shake them awake.

reply

They have people like John Stewart and Bill Maurer who have been critical of the movement for a while. There simply are not enough far left people to win national elections. That's why they lost IMO. If they wanna win they need to dial it back a lot. They over-extended. Don't worry. The republicans will screw up plenty over the next few years and that will help the democrats.

reply

Yes, but just having comedians and late nite talk show hosts as your spokesmen won’t go over very well once the lists start pouring out. I think that the Hollyweird days of influence are probably numbered because of Diddy.

reply

New leaders will arise. Been watching this stuff for too long. The system will create them.

Nope. It's a cult. All dissenters were driven out.

reply

This is their key problem. It is very cult like. Decent and even questions are not tolerated. Like any fanatical group with purity tests they will just keep cutting people off until its so factionalized they have no power. The old school guys get it. Over the past few years I have heard many democrats speak to this problem. They have been ignored.

You know, they remind me of the religious right from the 90s. Just a different set of beliefs. Same patterns. They do seem more militant though.

reply

Aye, they are progressive/lefty/collectivist/Marxist/socialist/communist/murderers, what more can you expect from them? Perhaps the breakaway Dems can reestablish another party.

Ok, then they have no path to a future in power again, do they? I am happy to think that but doubt it. There are too many hidden cells left.

reply

Wishful thinking

The reason the Dems don’t go all in for DOGE is that it is their clan that would be having its ox gored. The state workers are very well connected to the Dems, some might say, at the hip. So, to go after them would be seen as a suicidal gesture, or at least self-inflicted harm.
