What if we're literally in the midst of it?
Considering that we're decades beyond when it was first predicted, I'd say that it's nonsense.
On a long enough timeline something bad is going to happen, but to me, the 4th turning window was closed a long time ago.
I think I'd qualify COVID and the reaction to it as perhaps qualifying for a 4th turning level event... especially since I think it was a lack of virtue and strength that made people so accepting of the policy responses from the government
If that's the case, it was a pretty weak 4th turning.
It may seem that way, but as an educator I think online education absolutely wrecked a generation of kids... and it was worst for the most vulnerable, who didn't have access to quiet spaces and fast internet connections and parents who could help fill the gaps in learning.
When compared to a civil war or world War, i don't consider covid to be that big of a deal.
Covid was battle of the mind. When your mind is conquered then you're going no where. Think about the whole world going through this battle at almost the same time. Many are yet to recover.
I think that's a pretty big reach to call that the 4th turning.
Why do you say that? We're talking about roughly 80 year cycles and that may be increasing as people have started having kids later and retiring later.
1st cycle: Revolutionary War - Civil War (about 80 years) 2nd cycle: Civil War - WWII (about 80 years) 3rd cycle: WWII - Present? (it's been about 80 years)
I'm pretty sure the first books predicted it would have already happened, and it was amended in the second book.

I've often had difficulty nailing down the different phases with any precision, but it feels like we're going through heightened chaos now and that seems to me to be predicted by the past periods of major chaos.
If I turn out to be wrong, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

If it doesn't happen way before 100 years, it disproves it even exists. Its supposed to be every generation, and should have started by now.

I was replying for something else. I took it for Astrology in Hindu mythology. I thought this is about the end of 4th Yuga (Era).

It's a good book. I think the idea of generational cycles has some merit. I wouldn't take it too seriously though.
If we are, it's a boring turning.
We have managed to avoid world war but in the past 20 years have had the GFC and Covid pandemic. We have seen great technological change and are going through a period where trust in institutions is crumbling. Maybe it is tame compared to other fourth turnings but I don't think I has been boring.
I'm not sure that it would qualify as one for me.

I don't believe in it to be really honest.
The turnings are happening continuously all the time in various places. Somewhere in the city, strong men are making good times, and elsewhere weak men are making bad times. Meanwhile, somewhere in the world, good times are making weak men, and elsewhere hard times are making strong men. There is no global turning, only local.
it is only real in hindsight. it wasn't real in turnings 1, 2,or 3 until they looked at it when writing the book.
