Trump described that Gaza should be thought of as a "big real estate site" and that neighboring and regional Arab states could be tasked with handling its redevelopment.
"the only reason they’re talking about returning to Gaza is they don’t have an alternative. When they have an alternative, they don’t want to return to Gaza." However, videos over the past days and week have shown families pouring back into the north, most often by food and carrying possessions
I really thought his shitcoinery was the worst thing about him. I was wrong.
I'm sure plenty of stackers will be able to justify supporting him despite this, even if they claim to be libertarians who respect property rights.

Trump's either batshit insane or just culturally ignorant.
He sees this as a "Jews vs Arabs" conflict, like your average American redneck. He sees "Arabs" as a homogenous mass of people that you can freely displace and mix.
And yeah, he seems to not recognize the Gaza inhabitants' property rights (regardless of historical claims).
Can't wait to see what his "genius" idea for the Russo-Ukrainian war is.
reply
All he cares is to get rare earth minerals for the aid already provided. Ukrainians are screwed.

Its terrible but shouldn't surprise us. His son in law is Netanyahu's godson. Netanyahu's party apparently supported Hamas back in the day over the PLO because they knew they would be a better foil. Ron Paul outlined this in ththe 1990s I believe. They whole thing is a mess the US should have no part in it.
All that I get why people would support this.
  1. Hamas is terrible
  2. It seems like things just are in a cycle or repeated terribleness
  3. Americans are ignorant of the history of both sides
  4. Most Americans do not respect property rights
  5. Isreal spends insane money on US political figures
  6. Evangelicals largely have a warped view of the relationship of the state of Isreal and the Bible. This has spread into other sects of Christianity sadly and distorts this whole topic
  7. Pro-Palestine people suck at making their side's points. It almost always sounds like extreme left drivel.
I could go on...

buying a nation that is in constant turmoil is on the level of insanity that is the billions sent to ukraine or the forever war in afghanistan
reply
He doesn’t want to buy any nation but land. He doesn’t give a damn about people, I heard him say that he wishes the people of Gaza to have beautiful lives… somewhere else. What a nice person.
reply
There won't be any turmoil anymore if the land is completely flattened and full of beaches and luxury hotels
reply
I expected this to be the worst thing about him and he's blowing my expectations out of the water.

lets be honest, Trump won, because Kamala was worst. but this guys is a POS.
reply
Do you really think that? Could Dems have won with any other candidate? And with nother set of policies?
I don't think so. The cultural tides where shifting no matter what.

Yes 100% , democrats could have won the last election with a better candidate.
I mean trump is not the best guy, I know some people here believe he is kind of saviour but the guy is crap. He is working for himself, if he do some good is because of colateral results of getting richer himself.
The shitcoin is a proof of that.

I read a great thread explaining that Trump mostly employs the door-in-the-face technique over and over while also merrily appearing dimwitted. I can't imagine this time is any different.
reply
That's a pretty sophisticated way to avoid calling him a piece of shit.
reply
My stance on this is that I'm going to judge him by his actions and results, and not on his words.

Here's why I'm worried. I usually can tell when Trump is being intentionally outrageous. He drops the bomb and then starts walking it back. Here, he doubles down and takes it further. What's more frightening is that it sounds like he really believes he's being benevolent towards the Palestinians. He seems surprised that most people don't see it that way.
I don't buy all this 4 D chess crap about him. He's really ignorant about many things. I don't think he was a history major.
reply
We'll see, we'll see. I don't buy the 4D crap either, but I do buy the "door-in-the-face" hypothesis.
That being said, Trump's real estate background surely influences dreams of a seaside Gaza resort, plus the people he's surrounded himself with, make this an issue that he's uniquely positioned to not see clearly on. If he gets this wrong, campus protests and global terrorism are going to intensify everywhere, and it's going to get in the way of his much more popular domestic agendas.
Trump would do well to remember that he actually outperformed among Arab Americans who (correctly) saw Biden as a warmonger (by being a puppet of the deep state.)

Another soap opera to distract the unwary. This will come to nothing. It's just political games to distract, like the talk of the wall with Mexico!

I genuinely have no clue what he's up to. I'm not even sure that he does himself.
But that only means that right now is yet another perfect moment to realign our inner anarchist compass by re-reading Anatomy of the State (available for free).

So he's actually planning on displacing all of the people who live there, thereby creating tons of refugees.... while simultaneously condemning taking in refugees....

Are none of his team telling him this is insane?
reply
I don't know who would. Rubio probably agrees. Musk too. RFK jr is a zionist.
reply
The team is full of yes-men. There is nobody there that would dare confront him about any decision. Or at least not any decision with such low importance on the north american mainland.
reply
The Arabs have already rejected his offer. It would interesting to see what other options he bring to the table.
What a dacoit of a President USA has got!

Reading these comments really makes me wonder who pays attention to international politics. Currently, the Middle East and more importantly the Gulf States want no part in rebuilding Gaza or maintaining stability in the region. Given this no win situation what is a logical solution.... You say you are going to go in take it over and do what you want.
By default this will force the Gulf States off of the sidelines and onto the field to help with not only the humanitarian crisis but the rebuilding effort. Engaging the Gulf States is critical to making sure no radical group emerges and takes over. By coming out and saying this and people not knowing when Trump is being honest and when he is creating leverage to get what he wants he forces people and countries to play.

This is something the Biden Admin was honest to god remarkably awful at... they really sucked at a level I havent seen before.
Bluffing is all part of it and he has so much flexibility as long as he doesnt put boots on the ground. Granted with the Houthi's if they happen to hit a ship or injure someone he will be given a pass to do whatever he needs to do

And the whole property rights thing with those gazan families whose homes have been blown to bits? I guess all the land records buildings are blown up too?

Tbh are you aware of how land rights work there? If so you would already have you answer.
Considering your response. Here ya go with one of the best attempts to explain it. Even then you see there are issues with how they do not have land rights or have any idea what land goes where with who.
