We had a couple of good resource guides, and then, it seems, nothing. Is the XMR community just not interested in using this site?
I think a big possibility for why we haven't seen any activity here since the first day is the significant cost to posting. 420 sats for a group of people that probably don't keep a sizeable lightning balance is quite steep.
this territory is moderated
I am going to post daily I was just out this weekend

I don't know much about Monero. From what I can see, it's worth a look. Most people here are Bitcoin maxi's, but maybe you'll find a few open minded folks.
That being said, the territory is probably not going to be profitable for the foreseeable future (most territories aren't---not a problem with XMR-focused discussion specifically)

I just don't think the XMR community is aware of this territory yet.
On top of that Stacker News is basically a Bitcoin community website after all and pretty hostile to other crypto communities (for the most part). You see a few Monero topics sprinkled in here every once in awhile but those are few and far between.

I shared it on my X but I have low followers right now but I'll continue mentioning it, I think it's just there's no extra benefit for others to posting here than other places but it's another place nonetheless. SN is FOSS and earning sats KYC-free is still better than the elonbucks with ID verification

I'm a strong believer in checking one's own bias and constantly challenges our beliefs.
As a Bitcoin maxi, I spend more time engaging in altcoin spaces as a way to challenge myself. It forces me to articulate and think through my beliefs from a contrarian viewpoint.
So, I'm really glad the Monero territory is here.
I find the XMR and the BCH communities are the only ones that really make me think deep and challenge my BTC-maxi stance. ETH, SOL, ADA, LTC.... it's all laughable and I would probably not appreciate those territories being here. But XMR and BCH I welcome. I still own zero xmr or bch, but the discussions with people in those groups have been valuable to me.

420 sats is $0.42. Hardly insurmountable.
Having said that, can a territory creator adjust the amount to make a post on the fly?
Also, I received this telegram message from @RevHodl last night, "Immediate disgust on Stacker News Live for your Monero territory. They told everyone to mute it immediately. The additude was very much "get these shitcoiners outta here, go get em DarthCoin" Not sure I even need to comment or editorialize. That speaks for itself.

Yeah well, that doesn't stop people interested in Monero from using the site. Of course the maxis aren't going to engage here. They block Monero bros on nostr, that doesn't stop an active community from existing there. There are plenty of people, bitcoiners included, who aren't going toute because either they like Monero or they're actually interested in talking about it.
It's not insurmountable. But most Monero guys are stacking Monero or on chain BTC. They're not doing the whole lightning thing, unless they're already nostr users, usually. And even then, they're probably just using their zaps to zap others and mostly unwilling to spend their hard earned xmr or BTC to post here unless its low enough that they have the lightning balance to do it already.

that's actually a really good point. Fuck it, posts are zero (edit: had to make it at least one sat) sats now. @rafael_xmr

As long as we don't get banned this is free speech and we need to use it so newbies learn about the cypherpunk cause

I'll try to find where they were talking about ~monero
update: found it, starts at 43:45
k00b only said:
my hope is people will mute it if they don't want to see it
so very clearly this is not true:
They told everyone to mute it immediately

I watched it, the spirit of what @RevHodl communicated to me is upheld I think.
@k00b literally misrepresented the monero fork of Bisq I included in the guide. He said I'm talking about coinjoinin bitcoin??
Bisq already let's you buy bitcoin with monero, as does robosats. But all the fees are paid in bitcoin. And as a fellow bitcoiner, if I new I could use a fork of Bisq that was cheaper to run (because the deposits and mining fees are all denominated in XMR which is cheaper to transact in), I might be interested. I haven't run the fork yet, just letting people know it's out there. The post was literally about Bisq, and this is a fork... It seems relevant...
And @sethforprivacy mentioned in the latest Monero Monthly on Max's Ungovernable Misfits podcast that the current iteration of Bisq makes it trivial for people snooping the blockchain to spot Bisq transactions due to the way the deposits and transactions are crafted, it creates a signature, and IF people use the Bisq token (a kind of colored Bitcoin (never used it) that let's Bisq devs get paid), it's even MORE obvious you did a Bisq transaction. Now me, as a non-KYC bitcoin user and miner, I don't care too much, BUT a monero fork where these fees and deposits are settled in monero would mitigate that privacy issue...
Nuance people?
Who's the dude on the left BTW? If guy on the right is @k00b.
I'm actually fine (and glad) if people like @DarthCoin or whomever delete the ~monero territory or me... Like, cool, that's the way SN works...

I have to admit, you are kind of exhausting to interact with since you seem to go from extreme to extreme, while asking for nuances yourself.
Examples:
  • you accuse Coinos of rugging in the title of a post (#882458)
  • you went from 420 sats to 1 sat
  • you said the spirit of what @RevHodl communicated is upheld because k00b said the monero fork of Bisq is coinjoining if I understood your reason for why it's upheld right even though this point has nothing to do with ~monero
  • you still think SN or someone might delete ~monero or you
I've been using RetoSwap since it first appeared on the scene (around May of last year) and it's only gotten better with time. I use it somewhat regularly and have had zero problems and haven't heard anyone who really has for whatever that is worth. They have a SimpleX groupchat on their website too if you want to ask questions or see whats going on.
