Reading “100 Small Money Habits of People Who Save 100 Million Yen” now. 100 wives each contributed their small money habit to the curation of this book. You would think that since this is a money book, they would dwell on high yield savings accounts or fractional shares or real estate. But noooooo, so far everyone has been sharing their good habits. Checking their planner first thing in the morning, introducing a sense of novelty into the everyday, even making your dishes colourful.
It now seems to me that the good habits that don’t seem to be related to money at first glance will help people curtail unnecessary expenses and build their wealth.
So, I ask you: What’s your best money-saving habit?
Why go buy coffee everyday when u can save money and just make it at home
lol how do you make your coffee then?
Just with a normal coffee machine
I have a grocery list, and I buy off brands. Meal planning means that I don't throw away food.
I used to waste a lot more food, and it's something I never really was happy about.
Do you plan day to day or the entire week? My wife does the latter
I always plan the week. I eat a lot of the same stuff.
I'll be the one to say it. Ditch the wife. Best money-saving trick.
I think in the Japanese context, a lot of men would have spent their money away if it weren’t for their wives. Though admittedly, I find it a bit demeaning if I have to surrender my entire salary to my wife and receive an allowance in return
Probably only eating what's already in the house and usually waiting for my wife to cook, instead of making something for myself.
I basically only eat delicious homecooked meals and what would otherwise be food waste.
We are both lucky to have wives who can (even like to) cook
buying off-brand stuff and using store discount programs is most of what I do, the usual food shops we go to have like loyalty programs so I keep an eye on the offers.
nothing major.
if i worked in a normal office situation, bringing home meals would be a saving option
Interesting term: off-brand stuff. Do you mean the brands that are launched by the food shops themselves? We call them house brands here
i mean the obvious cheaper knock-off brands of a near identical product made by a different company. the store-brand stuff is basically their own private-label stuff. i do buy these in places like Lidl and whatnot, they're sometimes not the cheapest either tho
Walk instead of bus/taxi/scooter
I have time and strong legs, but not enough sats
You live in a small town, right? Why not cycle?
Think about why you should save money. Jot down 20 reasons that make saving worthwhile. Thank me later
Thank you!
