While reading today I stumbled accross an article that says 75% of people have experienced the same dream at least 4 times a month in their life. More surprising is that these dreams are bad ones than the good ones.
Then I followed it up with another search and found another article on a science website...
Why does it seem like the same dreams keep following us? Maybe you’ve dreamed of soaring like a bird since childhood, or you’ve recently started revisiting a particular place or time while asleep. Perhaps a bad day at work still stirs exam nightmares, even if you haven’t been a student for decades.
Recent studies have bolstered the long-held idea that recurring dreams are often—but not always—bad ones. In a 2022 survey by Michael Schredl, head of the sleep laboratory at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Germany, and his colleagues, adults flagged recurring dreams as “negatively toned” two thirds of the time; these dreams often touched on themes such as being chased or attacked, arriving somewhere late or failing at something.
However there are many reasons narrated on both of these articles, I'm trying to pinpoint the exact reason for this recurring bad dream phenomenon for me, for us maybe.
Did you ever experience recurring bad dreams?
What do you think is the reason for such repetition of dreams?
Yeah, it's true that I have dreams where I am lost somewhere in the middle of the sea at night with very little visibility, and on top of that, I am alone in a small boat. I lose all my sleep that night if I have this dream. I'm not sure why this dream repeats, but I guess it's because I have watched so many thriller based movies.

That can be true to so many people. There's a continuity hypothesis about dreaming which suggests about our activities while waking hugely impact our dreams.
There's also suggestion to overcome them. You just need to watch thrillers with happy ending. That should help.

That's a fantastic idea. Thanks a million!
