Which series of Science Fiction books do like the best?
This is part two of the polls to find the most favored series. We are looking at a series of at least two or three books.
There are many series out there and I could only list a few. I must admit that I have not read many of these. Especially non-English writers’ series.
If you have others, not listed please put them in comments.
I will publish the results after the poll closes.

I haven't read it, yet, but The Expanse is one of my favorite sci-fi shows, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
reply
I saw The Ezpanse on the television, but have not read it. I thought it was well done and would read the series, if I could ever find the time. I have read seven of the ten series, though and thought they were all good.

I suppose I need to read more since I don’t recognize any of these titles.
reply
If you are a science fiction aficionado you will get around to some of them sooner or later, but science fiction is not everyone’s cup of tea. It just depends upon what you like to read for pleasure.

And there are also
Planetes , by Yukimura Makoto: Tells the story of a future that seems only a few generations away. It takes place in the 2070s, a time when humans have begun colonizing space. Source: https://mangadex.org/title/3be16cf9-fe5c-431e-b528-98551d3d3bb0/planetes
Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune: The year is 2029. The world is surrounded by communication networks and a vast amount of information is circulating around the world. However, nations, ethnic groups, and crimes still exist. The name of the organization belonging to Public Security Section 9, a special unit formed to combat increasingly complex crimes, is "Ghost in the Shell"! I have seen the anime for both Akira and Ghost in the Shell. I like watching them in the original Japanese because the voices seem to match the characters much better than the dubb overs. I also saw the Ghost in the Shell live action movie with Scarlet Johannson as the Ghost. I thought they were both good and did not know they were also books and not manga. I have not heard of Planetes, though. I take it that they are all anime.
reply
Planets really worth it to watch or read.
reply
Thanks for the recommendation. Is it also an anime? I like watching anime, too.

Thanks for the link. I read the link. I have seen Code Geass, a whole lot of episodes, anyway. It was an interesting anime. I didn’t know that Planetes was their second production. Many of these anime come from Shonen Jump as well as a lot of other popular manga/anime shows. I wasn’t partial to Shonen Jump because it contained a lot of stories I was not interested in reading. You could always see people reading that manga on the trains, whenever you rode them. It was a very popular magazine.

I'm on the last book of the expanse series, and they are all very good. The books past the timeline in the tv series are set 30 years into the future and get very interesting.

They were some of my favorite also.
reply
Lots of people seem to like this series. I hadn’t read any and my first exposure was on TV.
reply
OK, I didn’t realize that they went past the TV series. They must be getting very, very interesting. A lot was happening at the end of the series on TV.
reply
Would you consider Stephen King's Dark Tower series science fiction / horror? I feel like it fits right in.
reply
That’s a tough one because I don’t consider Stephan King as a Sci-Fi author. But if you say the Dark Tower shoe fits, then it could be Sci-Fi.
reply
Neither did I, until I read this series. It's about 7 or 8 books, but there are other King books connected to the lore in some way. Some say that all the King books are connected to the Dark Tower series in some way or another.
reply
Yeah, however, I am not a King fan. I read a couple of his horror books when I was much younger and did not like them very much. It was writing style, I think.
reply
Funny, I had the same experience. I think I tried Insomnia and IT, but couldn't get into them.
Then, a couple of decades later, a friend of mine gifted me the first book in the Dark Tower series. I read it and it sort of grabbed me, it was different... I then re-read it a few years after that and I was finally in.
I think the Dark Tower series is one of his best within his catalog. Salem's Lot was another good one that I ended up reading because of the Dark Tower series. All of them are a strange blend of sci-fi and horror.
I'm currently reading the final book in the series. It's been a long journey.
reply
Ahhhhh……. Those long journeys are the best, though. The author has the time and space to fully develop the characters, the plot and the settings. I think series books, as long as you know what is going on in the series, are by far the best.
reply
Agreed
reply
I have just started reading one of a series of books, but it is the third of a trilogy and I have not read the first two. It is a bit confusing because the author is assuming that I have read the first two.

Come on back and give us your thoughts on the series choices! I guess you can still post for free, if you like.
