If they like to read, I'll give them "The Internet of Money", its very easy to understand and it answer a lot of questions about FIAT money. In my opinion its one of the best resources to understand the fundamentals of Bitcoin.
Also, make clear the difference between Non Custodial wallets and custodial...for sure, they have heard some scary histories about people not able to get their money from their banks...
Regarding the tech savy part, try not to over complicated the talk, sending a btc transaction is like sending an email...If they ask about safety, how, etc, explain with more details...wait for then to ask questions....

Stamp out some washers with a 12 word seed phrase & get them to enter it into 2 different phone wallets. Put a few sats into the wallet beforehand too.
Having a physical thing they can see & touch while showing the magic of pulling up your wallet from words will hopefully be enough

My father-in-law who is 80 years old was the one who introduced me to BTC almost 2 years ago, so age does not prevent his understanding. Do not base the explanation on the price but on the value. What can make things easier is that you do a comparison of BTC today with what it was at the time they saved gold. There are also books that can help you, one is "Bitcoin evangelism" by Brian from Mint.

I think eplaining stuff to elderly people is easier when you have a recurring theme/sentence
Say "decentralized hard money" and then you can explain one by one why it is decentralized, why it is a hard money etc etc
