This guy (from Breitbart of all places) seems to have a sensible thread that manages to stay apolitical:
Will be a test to see how many steel metal seed plates will survive the fires…
Joel Pollak lives in Pacific Palisades.
Andrew Breitbart grew up in Westwood.

FIRE INSURANCE: Democrats used socialist price controls to cap rates; the result is a shortage of insurance as companies leave or cancel policies. This was discussed on local Nextdoor in Dec. New "forced coverage" regs will make the problem worse. Need creative solutions
This is a massive factor in most places that have natural disasters. Places that have hurricanes, wild fires, and other natural disasters. The state either does price controls on insurance or subsidies living in risky areas making it profitable to provide insurance in risky areas. Insurance in a truly free market is a great mechanism for measuring risk. Just as fiat money and the manipulation of interest rates distorts market signals for businesses, relief from disasters as well as insurance subsidies or price controls distort the signals of risk that insurance would normally provide.
The state is not God. It cannot magically remove risk. Living in a wild fire zone is inherently full of risk. I am not shaming people for their choices or saying they should not be helped (voluntarily) but the state distorts market signals and people die as a result. They never get blamed for this aspect. They may get blamed for poor forest management or response but almost never for creating false trust and confidence.
Its always the unseen things that are hardest to expose. If you think it through what I'm saying here should click.

A completely different example that should ring true is the "too big to fail". Bailouts of the banks, and airlines have left us with garbage. The free market has much in common with a wild fire. Nature clears out brush and dead growth making the way for new life. Life that is stronger. This is not allowed to happen in some industries due to the state and its sociopaths in positions of power.
The state and its sociopaths think nothing of making promises they are not able to keep. Those that believe the state suffer the most. I often wonder if a significant number of people will ever understand this other than the small number of free market people, libertarians, and anarcho-capitalists.
The problem is that statists sound caring and compassionate. In fact they for the most part are just sociopaths seeking power and approval from the masses to pad their pockets and gain more power.
That's harsh but true.

I agree about arson or terrorism
Even in Pacific Palisades fire started at 930 am before there was wind
Something nefarious is the cause and it’s not climate change

Insurance companies and consumers should sue California for wildfire negligence
People have been warning the state for 30 years
There is a strong case for negligence and damages
And the plaintiffs would win
