Shanahan sandbagging the season to get Purdy on a cheaper deal is not out of the realm of possibility. I am not saying from the get go but once the injuries started to mount and they knew playoffs were unlikely maybe. They only ran the ball 14 times against the Lions and under 20 the two games before that as well. Shanahan knows the OLine sucks and there is no Aiyuk and CMC. I thought it odd when he played him in the preseason with a bunch of third stringers against he Titans number ones. I was thinking why bother but maybe he was proving a point that in order to keep all his great players with him he needs to sign a team friendly deal.

I am going to give him (Purdy) credit with how the offense itself was a shell of what was expected. CMC was a nonfactor this year lost one of his top WR and the other one has butter fingers so it isn't all his fault the team has melted around him
