Maybe it's your location. It seems to me that smaller dogs are getting more popular around here. I have big dog bias, though I have owned many little dogs.

These guys are fast, but not greyhound fast. I used to go to a dog track once in a while with friends who lived in Massachusetts. Retired racing greyhound adoption was and probably still is a big thing.
They make good pets, and surprisingly don't mind just becoming couch potatoes.
