Uncared for boilers can be dangerous.
I dont know the exact type of boilers used in the UK, but if it is anything similar to what l work with, yiou shiuld be careful.
boilers are pretty well cared for, only licensed techs can do anything to them and there are plenty of inspectors etc
although i would also like to hear some boiler horror stories and maintenance tips if you have them (in my house we only have water boilers, not gas), but I'm in Bulgaria

It really depends on the type of boilers.
High pressure boilers can have a lot of energy, but the older ones used in houses should be low pressure.
They can be dangerous if not checked and serviced correctly.
I know Mythbusters did an episode on one exploding, it leveled the house.

i believe they are generally serviced annually in the UK and for sure if you are a landlord, by law you have to have the boiler serviced annually as part of a gas safety check
