What Is This?
This is a recurring post inspired by discussions had by @Undisciplined, @elvismercury and others regarding evergreen content on SN. I’ll dig back into the past to try to locate some great posts that might be worth another read. I plan to release a new Golden Oldies every Tuesday.
Happy New Year!
Rather than wade through my favorites of the past and pick out two, I have decided to highlight the two top zapranked post of 2024.
Here are this week’s selections:
This was a controversial post by a smart developer. The text presents good arguments, but the discussion it elicited from equally smart developers is what makes the post golden. You will learn a lot about the lightning network by reading the discussion. I re-read it this morning. When it was first posted, the back and forth felt a little over my head. Today I could follow along much more easily. It goes to show how much we can all learn on Stacker News by just reading and posting and commenting every day. For the record, I am more optimistic today about the lightning network than the alternatives.
This is a unique post. It perfectly illustrates how incentives enhance engagement. I am pretty certain it garnered more replies than any post ever on SN, as stackers swarmed to win the increasing pot. Along the way some interesting discussions took place. I’m not sure if it was my imagination, but just loading this post seemed to slow down my old laptop. Enjoy!
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
