News Of The Week

Welcome to the Books And Articles newsletter. Thanks for all of the quality posts.
This is the final edition of 2024. I want to take a moment to thank all the contributors who provided this territory with some great content this first year. I hope this is just the beginning. I will probably try some new things with the goal of creating a place where writers earn a fair fee in bitcoin for their work. It may be a long process, so please be patient.
Happy reading, and Happy New Year!
. As always, please reply with suggestions and opinions on how to make this territory better.

Siggy’s Suggestions

I am pretty sure this is the first book review submitted by @Rothbardian_fanatic. Since I’m not a science fiction reader, this book was completely off my radar. I admit I am intrigued. The post didn’t get much attention for whatever reason , so I suggest that stackers give it a look now.
Speaking of Sci-Fi, here’s a nugget from a new SN account that didn’t get the attention it deserved. I was disappointed that there wasn’t more back and forth discussion. It’s a topic I want to learn more about.

Thank you for lovingly carving a space of community and camaraderie to encourage the exchange of views and personal tales. You have helped me feel like I am a more accomplished writer this year - and this weighs more than anything else, including sats xP

Congrats! That Dickens correlation with SN is very apt. There were writers all over in the past who used to make a living by writing like this. https://daveastoronliterature.com/2020/11/29/novelists-who-navigated-from-newspapers/

What a nice thread: #821212, I'm sorry I missed it.
Makes me wonder what, if anything, SN can do to maintain a good post's engagement after the first 24 hours
One thought I had is that if a post that had a lot of engagement receives a new reply or a large zap, it can still rise up in the Hot list. This would increase competition for space in Hot, and could disadvantage new posts, so that's a major tradeoff

Thanks, Siggy.
I missed the Moving Mars post when it went up. That book sounds right up my alley. I just need to finish off half a dozen Wheel of Time books first.

What is this all about? Is there any content writing contest held here?
reply
This is the newsletter for the ~BooksAndArticles territory. When I started the newsletter I held two writing contests. It became obvious that there was little interest beyond the second one, so I haven't held another.
The purpose of the newsletter is to give visibility to content posted in the territory each week.

I appreciate you letting me know. I mistakenly believed those were the winners of the contest. I understand now.

Usually the top post gets a 50% sat split. This week my post was at the top, so there was no sat split.

Oh wow, this is a great idea for paying to create. I saw that anyone can post there. I also read a lot of books and have recommendations, feedback, quotes, and much more to share about them. I will try. Thanks for the nice introduction.
