CNBC Casually Tosses Out Some Bitcoin Quantum Computing FUD

Luckily no one is watching these legacy MSM networks anymore except me, but Cramer and David Faber were talking about quantum computing during their opening bell dialogue.

They joked about how far off quantum computing is, and they were amused at how much attention it was getting.

Faber, who is an ironic guy, then says " quantum computing will eventually destroy all cryptography, and that will be the end of bitcoin. "

Now, I think he was joking, but I'm sure there were a few old guy normie investors (CNBC' s demographic) who just got scared.

Is it a big deal? I doubt it, but it's a reminder about the importance of education.

I think we are many years off from quantum computing being a threat to Bitcoin but I also don’t think we should ignore it.

We need to do a hard fork at some point anyways to fix the block number bug. Updating to quantum resistant encryption at the same time would make sense but will the community agree?

I feel a lot of people are letting fear get in the way of healthy conversation. If they would have said that he had thought of somethibg before he made bitcoin, it would calm the crowd a bit.

The overwhelming majority of FUD comes from ignorance. I understand that people don't have to know everything, so education is important. It's imperative to have people demystifying the FUD that appears, but it's a shame that these educators can't have the visibility of the FUD spreaders.

Imagine if you went on CNBC and told investors "Google has developed a new piece of technology that allows them to steal any EV....so doesn't make sense to buy EVs these days because its only a matter of time before its stolen...."

Now suppose that information was completely false that there was no truth to it.
