From what I know about desalination, ROs take a huge beating from the salt. Did they say in the article what would happen after they process all that brackish water in the groundwater? How are they going to keep the saltwater out indefinitely?
The article doesn’t explain what they are doing to with the brackish water. I assume they will dump it in the ocean

It would be interesting if they reprocess the reject and make sea salt out of it. That way there wouldnt be any waste!

The amount of brackish water that’s produced is huge. The operation to reclaim the salt would be uneconomical. I am sure salt mines can produce much more salt per kg of energy spent than a desalination plant.

That is probably true, but they could just put it on a pad and let the sun dry it out. It is a lot of brackish water, though. Do you know what is involved with the nano filtration?

Why don’t they just go from the ocean and back to the ocean with the concentrated salts? I think it is brackish because the ocean water is seeping into the aquifer, somehow.
