Hi fellow bitcoin plebs and lightning bulls! I'm a musician and just released my latest song on a value for value model. To the outside, non bitcoin world, I probably look crazy but I want to try and prove a point... That there is a better way for artists to monetise their music than just simply uploading to Spotify, Apple or Youtube which leaves artists with little or nothing to show for their work... I'm calling on this community to ask a big favour. Perhaps you can find ways to monetize your music with the help of the Lightning Network. Im not a musician but perhaps there are music platforms that uses the listen2earn model. That would be awesome.

You should also add a Bitcoin checkout option for your merch, rather than just the awful Paypal, what do you think ? It should not be to difficult for you as you already managed to receive Bitcoin tips :)

This is my plan. I want to do this song as a beta test and then roll out lightning for all my merch, gig tickets etc. I will even have limited items that can only be purchesed with bitcoin or lightning eventually. I've not figured out how to ask people for their shipping address with BTC pay server yet... Will figure it out when I have a bit more time on my hands to research

nice! super cool that you take this route! please share your experience after a while. At Alby we build tools to make such payments easy and bring it down to one click. Easiness and speed for the user is essential for the conversion rate - imo we must make it online as easy as dropping a dollar for a musician on the street (but more fun at the same time :D)

I also see you have a chat on that page. in the podcasting world boostagrams work really well - those are basically attaching sats to the messages a fan sends. we now have programmable money so we can rethink the interactions and attach value streams from fans to artists.

Alby is great, so convenient being able to do a one click transaction from the browser! Basically, I'm running this release as a proof of concept and once strike is out in the UK which I'm hoping will be within the next 6 months or so, I will start encouraging regular fans to engage through the strike app as it will be easy for them to onboard and they can take it further if they're interested.. Don't know if that's a good idea...

the nice thing about lightning is also that it does not matter who solves the onboarding problem. All of the websites and apps using lightning will benefit from that.

but onramp is also for Alby an important topic. "regular fans" want to put their fiat in, that's then transferred as sats.

You should add this widget you can customize and get tips via LN, the user can do it right from the landing page without having to go to the btcpay voltage landing page!

Great song! This entire thread has so much value in the comments too. I sent a small tip but I am an ignorant man, I didn't quite know what GBP was. Perhaps you can implement a Satoshi denomination in your BTCPay server. Great job. I like to write and would love to monetize it in a v4v way some how but I've been apprehensive. Your work has certainly eased some of that. Thank you
