UPDATE: Just as I went to hit post on this the Free Syrian Armyannounced they are at the Southern Gates of Damascus. This is within 24 hours of starting the southern offensive being launched!
I think we all knew the end of the Syrian Regime but I have to say the last 24 hours have been WILD! It has become clear that High Level Members of the Regime are fleeing just based off of the flight data and that the Presidents family stayed in Moscow even when he returned.
Just some quick recent points
  • Over 1,000 Syrian Armed Forces surrendered to Iraq
  • A new front has opened up in the south with the Druze community now taking up arms and fighting north
  • video evidence of troops changing out of their military uniforms and into civilian clothing in the capitol and then helping tear down posters and monuments of the President and his family
  • Iran pulled out military leaders
  • Even though Syria has requested arms no one is willing to give them

  • US Intel believes regime could fall within days
  • Residents in Irbin, a northwest suburb of the Syrian capital Damascus, have been seen celebrating the progress of anti-regime rebel fighters as they move closer to the city center.In a video geolocated by CNN, residents were observed flooding the streets, lighting fireworks and honking car horns. Irbin is just 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the center of Damascus.

Syria's population is ~25 million, of which 2-3 million are Alawites. In hindsight it's clear that such a minority exerting rule violently over a much larger population wasn't sustainable

Update Two
  • Bloomberg reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad recently contacted the United States through Back-Channels in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), offering to “Cut all Ties” with both Iran and Hezbollah if the U.S. and Western Countries assist him with remaining in Power. Al-Assad is said to have also tried and failed to speak to President-Elect Donald J. Trump about the offer, with him now attempting to contact several Western and Middle Eastern Countries to request Asylum.
  • City of Douma has fallen a huge move as it was the site of several massacres by the Regime during the Civil War
  • Rebels have now reached the north of the Capitol and are moving forward still along with those in the south.

You can choose between OSINT sources with all their geo-confirmed sources or the US Intel. Russia and Iran aren't sending help and the SAA is defecting in droves
