It depends of nation, continent, history, man/woman, ethnies,...
Lots of people never even try to do things because of the fear of failure.

But ask yourself why would you even jump and hurt yourself. If nothing is wrong, you could actually enjoy the thrill. Instead of saying I’m afraid of the dark, think about what could really be there. Ghosts, animals? If you used some sense you’d realize it’s mostly safe and you might even enjoy being in the dark and getting lost in your thoughts.
