Yes you read it right. Not just me, no one is scared of heights. It’s not the height, it’s the what ifs that get to you. What if we fall, what if we jump off. The same way, no one is really afraid of the dark. It’s just that you can’t trust what’s in it. It’s not the fear of the dark itself, it’s the fear of what you might imagine or do.
You’re not really scared of starting something and failing. What you’re scared of is how others will mock you for it if you fail. That’s the real problem. It’s so simple but people miss it every time. They don’t stop to think about what’s really behind their fear.
Maybe you’re not saying it right. Instead of saying I’m scared of heights, say I’m worried about what could happen if I fall or what if I jump. But ask yourself why would you even jump and hurt yourself. If nothing is wrong, you could actually enjoy the thrill. Instead of saying I’m afraid of the dark, think about what could really be there. Ghosts, animals? If you used some sense you’d realize it’s mostly safe and you might even enjoy being in the dark and getting lost in your thoughts.
And instead of fearing failure before you even start just because others might make fun of you, ask yourself what are you doing, why are you doing it, and what could go wrong. Think about it with questions like that and you’ll see it’s not as scary as you think.
You’re not afraid of the thing itself. You’re afraid of the outcome. No one is scared of anything, really. Living a logical life might sound easy but it takes effort to get into the details and that’s not always as simple as it seems.
That makes sense. Sometimes when I drive at night, I find myself feeling like a deer in the headlights, when there is an oncoming car. I feel something pulling me into the light like I could almost hit them head on. Weird feeling. Maybe not related but the lost made me think of that.
Every day, something like this happens to everyone, and the worst experience is when fear gets added. The best thing to do is tell yourself, It’s going to be okay!
It is going to be okay. Keep moving forward. In my experience, the more I face my fears, the more I get back from my experiences.
Exactly!
Things aren't scary. People are. And sometimes it's ourselves who might scare us the most...
That’s so true. Most of the time it’s not the situation but the way we think about it that makes it scary. And we can be our own worst enemy.
Definitely you should jump off... let's see if the government can protect you from jumping off with a law.

Lots of people never even try to do things because of the fear of failure.
