Suppose I post something and he comments something demeaning, with muting him I won't see his post, but other's would and due to his fear people wouldn't engage with me.  

Is it possible to introduce a feature where OP can hide comments he don't want to show? (Like on X?)

Yes. You won't see him demeaning you which is the only way he can demean you.
