The dinosaurs saw a grisly death at the hands of an asteroid, but who’s to say that Earth’s modern-day inhabitants won’t meet the same fate? Fortunately, scientists are already hard at work to prevent that future. How to Kill an Asteroid by science journalist Robin George Andrews is a deep dive into the extremely badass business of thwarting a destructive asteroid.
The book’s title is a slight misnomer. As Andrews explains, the best strategy to save the planet from an impending asteroid is not to blow it up in space — though that’s a reasonable last-ditch option — but instead to deflect it while it’s still far beyond Earth’s neighborhood. The physics of diversion is tricky: Which spacefaring rocks are harmless and which ones are a real threat? Will scientists be able to detect and intercept one in time? And if we manage to deflect it, will the rock fragment into a gazillion deadly bullets bound for Earth?

Easy. Stop believing an asteroid might hit the earth.

Darthcoin seems very angry to me. I do my best to show him some love. What's an ass milker?

I'm not worried about it. Fear is the only thing to fear. Death is an illusion. Space isn't real. History is a story. NASA is a scam. Dinosaurs aren't real. It's all an illusion. Of course, this is just all my perspective. Could be wrong. Maybe an asteroid will come kill us all. Either way, I will keep putting one foot in front of the other.

It takes courage to share such unique views and question the conventional narratives many take for granted. I really admire your openness

I really appreciate you saying that. I am seeking a balance between letting things go, and voicing my views. It's tricky when your view is different than others. This means a lot to me that you didn't just shut me down and tell me I am stupid. I know I may be "wrong". It's a struggle finding people to listen to my theories on things.

That really means a lot to hear. I know how hard it can be to share your views when they’re different from most people’s. Honestly it’s brave of you to keep putting yourself out there like that.

This means a lot to me that you didn't just shut me down and tell me I am stupid.

You’re not stupid or wrong for thinking differently it’s just part of figuring things out. I think it’s cool that you’re open to sharing your thoughts, even if not everyone gets it. Keep going

A few years ago NASA landed on an asteroid, so I believe we have the technology to do so. What would complicate the situation is the size of the asteroid and how long we would have to prepare. Scientists have already mapped possible asteroids that could collide with Earth in the future, but if you prepare properly, that's another problem.

You're absolutely right! NASA’s DART mission proved we have the technology to change an asteroid’s course which is surely a huge step. The tricky part is size and timing big asteroids or last-minute discoveries make things much harder. But with early detection, like mapping potential threats, we have a much better chance to prepare and act.

Good Job in the comments!
@DesertDave is much superior a stacker you should follow. I'd suggest you just mute any bully. I've done it a few day ago. It feels good not to listen someone who just comes here and spreads hatred.

I've asked him

You take yourself too serious (because you're narcissistic). But I'll again ask who are you? Why would I need to convince you? Who are you to decide what others should do here? Who are you to tell people they're gullible?
You mean nothing to me that's it!
