In a way I think this violates Occam's Razor. Introducing God just adds unnecessary complexity to the statement that the Universe, or some version of it, has always existed. Neither solves the mystery of how something can not have a beginning though.
You make a good point about Occam's Razor. It only seem simpler to suggest the universe, or something similar, has always existed. The real challenge comes when we try to wrap our minds around something that doesn't have a clear beginning or end. it's hard for our brains to handle. I guess, at the end of the day, both ideas still leave us with that same mystery of 'how' something can exist without a start.
