Taiwan is, in fact, a self-governing country... it has an independent capital, government, currency, anthem, flag, armed forces and powers, but it sustains itself with the support of the United States.
Taiwan produces more than 50% of the microchips currently sold worldwide and more than 90% of high-technology chips. This gives Taiwan a very particular situation. If there were a Chinese annexation, an invasion or even a Chinese blockade of the island, which would apparently be more likely, there would be global economic losses of great magnitude in a short space of time.
What can be expected is that the governments of the United States and China have common sense, seek understanding, and avoid a large-scale conflict that could harm the international economy and international politics as a whole.
Oh, you are not Chinese!!
The biggest problem is that governments do not have common sense at all. They cannot evaluate value or future consequences because the drones in the bureaucracy have no skin in the game and do not suffer the consequences of bad decisions. They hardly ever do the right thing.

Exactly, I'm not Chinese and I'm not expecting common sense from China. What I commented on was the commercial and geopolitical implications on a global scale in a possible conflict... which would be terrible for the weaker party, which is Taiwan

It would be terrible for everyone, everywhere. Warmongers just do not get it! War is the worst catastrophe you can think of. It is economically, physically and personally deadly for all involved. Even for those supposedly not involved, everyone suffers. Now, doesn't China have defense agreements with other countries and the same with Taiwan? Wouldn't it drag all those other countries into the war? It is all due to the psychopaths running things in every country.

Summarizing in a logical way
We can see that anti-state ideology is a necessary condition for establishing and maintaining freedom. The advantages it has over pro-state ideology are that, first, it appeals to the interests of the majority, and second, it relies on the truth about the nature of human action.

It may appeal to the majority, but it is difficult to get by the gimmes that are available in a democracy when people find they can vote themselves goodies from other people. Parasites suck.
