His case represents an unprecedented attack on attorney-client privilege that threatens everyone who relies on professional counsel.
Today, Ver sits silenced in Spain, unable to defend himself publicly, while prosecutors use his own lawyers’ records against him—records that show his meticulous attempts to follow the law. This isn’t just about cryptocurrency; it’s about whether any American can safely consult legal counsel without fear of prosecution.
If this precedent stands, seeking professional advice could become evidence of criminality. Business owners, entrepreneurs, and ordinary citizens who rely on lawyers and accountants will all be at risk. The time to act is now, before this dangerous precedent becomes permanent.
No more help from the lawyers! At least none that can be confidential.
I somehow assumed he bailed himself out and was fighting this from the outside.
Regardless of the harm he caused Bitcoin, I truly wish him freedom, and will sign the petition as I know Roger would do that for any one of us if we were the ones targeted to this degree.
reply
What harm did he cause bitcoin? From the article, it’s apparent that he did not cause any harm to BTC itself. It looks to me like legal harassment to shut down a new enterprise by the same old, same old (banksters).

Are you new to Bitcoin?

Omg I can't believe people in 2024 still don't know how much damaga did Roger to Bitcoin. No wonder whe still have so many shitcoiners fooled by Roger and posting all days his scam site (bitcoin dot com)
GUYS PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORKS AND LEARN ABOUT THE BITCOIN HISTORY IF YOU ARE NEW.
reply
Didn’t know he was a shitcoiner. I noticed he was one of the first people to accept BTC in payment of goods. Doesn’t sound too bad. I can understand the Mt.Gox problem, but did he loose in it, too, or was he scamming people? Maybe very few people foresaw Mt. Gox going down like it did.

Roger ver is the biggest enemy of Bitcoin. Period. But as an individual, he do not deserve to be in jail.
Anyways, I think all this "Roger arrest" is just another gov manipulation... they will make him disappeared, he already done his task against Bitcoin. Roger was part of a larger operation against Bitcoin.
When people will really open their eyes and mind and see the big picture? Govs will use all tactics and leverages against Bitcoin. Including of using these peons like Roger, Ross, Samourai etc. They were all tools used against Bitcoin.
This is Roger Ver...
reply
It did look like a gov setup to me. Especially the take down of Mt. Gox. However, why is in in jail in Spain where McAfee was? Is it a black site for the US?
reply
Good question. Yes the whole operation is fishy. My suspicion is this (and you should read his whole history to understand what am I saying now)
  • Roger Ver was "recruited" long time ago by gov agencies, when he was a "strong" advocate for Bitcoin. Yes, he's a real Bitcoin OG, no doubt about that. He had some troubles with US gov and he run in Japan. Somehow I think the blackmailed him and forced to join forces to undermine Bitcoin.
  • So like that Roger Ver started the "block size war" and then forked into BCH. The whole campaign was to create confusion into the noobs so they cannot differentiate BCH from BTC. Proof - bitcoin dot com site (owned by Roger). A lot of attacks and campaigns (read the book "block size war") pre-fork with manipulation of fees and all kind of tactics.
  • All this bullshit arrest because he didn't paid some bullshit taxes is just a cover up to make him disappeared. His role was finished now. They do not need him anymore.

OK, I understand completely, now! This was, more than likely, a state FUD operation. The banksters and the state work hand-in-glove on a lot of operations. Either the banksters are covering the state or the state is covering the banksters. Sometimes you need a program to tell them apart. So, he probably got hooked into this operation to FUD the bitcoin world because of his reputation, no? This goes to show you what reputation means in some cases. You have to keep your head on a swivel at all times.
there's a book called the blocksize wars that goes into the whole story quite well. lots of other things too, but yeah, funny to think that back in the day, Roger was called bitcoin jesus.

Yes, great book. here it is in pdf format: https://gofile.io/d/ybgbCw

Thanks for posting this link. Looks like a must read.

Got it! Started reading.

His strong support for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) could be viewed as harmful to BTC. Essentially, during the blocksize wars, he stood on the wrong side.
But for me personally, he caused harm by recommending MtGox before its collapse. He did issue an apology, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRIJ_jpmwzo
On balance, I personally believe he has done more good than harm over the years. Especially in the early years, he was very influential, hence the nickname “Bitcoin Jesus”.

This, to me, sounds more like the victor writing history, rather than a huge problem. Was he recommending Mt. Gox as a scammer or was he negatively affected by the crash, too?
reply
He put his reputation on line for Karpeles, pretty bad move, IMO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP1YsMlrfF0
reply
Yes, that was a mistake, however, did he know the real situation? Did the Mt. Gox people just lie to him and he, unknowingly, repeated the lie? I don’t know, but what did he have to say afterward?
reply
How many people do you think trump will pardon?
reply
I think he will pardon as many as he can. J6ers and etc.
reply
Isnt this guy in the same prison as the mcfee guy? @DarthCoin, you think something is going to suddenly happen to him?
reply
Not only is he in the same prison, it is pretty much for the same reason! The way they are prosecuting him is also the same way they are prosecuting DJT. What goes here?
