Exactly, it is a game that demands the dedication of all players, especially those who organize the adventure - The famous Master. I played a lot when I was a teenager. I think it really exercises people's imagination and creativity... it's always been a great experience for me
When I was younger, I never heard about it. When I reached my twenties, I heard but there was a lot of scoffing about it. I didn’t try it then. After that, my favorite Science Fiction Bookstore started stocking D&D knickknacks. By then, I couldn’t find people to play! I guess that is the way of the world!

There was always a lot of bullying for sure. A tip since you haven't had this experience, Baldur's gate III is a game that is very faithful to D&D.
