“Daan” is the original word in Sanskrit for donation, meaning selfless giving. In the list of the ten Niyamas (virtuous acts) “Daan” comes fourth. The other three that come above must be followed prior to Dan or donation.

Here's a bummer. I was born in a devout Hindu Brahmin Family who believe in all these niyamas and follow them with passion. At least my mother is one among us who stresses upon following our niyamas as they are written. But we, my siblings and my father, are inclined slightly more towards balancing our spritual and worldly life. We almost seperate ourselves from the religious and spiritual ways as soon as we are out of our homes. So, no preaching here, even though I can.

My favourite answer to this question is "because you can". Yes, not many people have the will power to selflessly donate. If you don't believe me, have a walkaround and try begging and you'll meet the reality.

Another one is that it gives you a sense of self satisfaction that otherwise remains wanting in humans. It can make you feel pretty good about yourself.

Ahh I'm just cutting all of the long list for why to donate because it all seems like everyone knows everything about why to donate. But do you really know? Just ask yourself.

If you aren't new you already knew that there have already been a couple of satsraisers here on SN which turned out to be pretty much successful with many stackers donating what they can to support a cause.

Yes, it is. If you're wondering why you donated after giving away a few hundred or thousand sats on a post, comment or in the daily rewards pool on SN, stop wondering and accept you've done it for a cause, the cause of building a community that is united, that is like minded and that has equally echoes the sounds of freedom and sovereignty, that dreams Satoshi's vision be turned into reality else the world is running after a doom.

To be precise we all are on the same ship that's fueled by the energy of Bitcoin. We all need to be together and we all need to express the notion of Bitcoin unequivocally. If that's not a cause big enough, I've to painfully announce we won't ever be successful in creating a community of Bitcoiners, for Bitcoiners and by Bitcoiners.

Let me clarify a bit more on the quantity (What to) aspect of "Dan" before proceeding further. Suppose a person has 1000 sats and another has 1 million. If the former donates 100 sats and the latter donates 100k, both these donations are considered equal because both will provide the same sense of self satisfaction to both the donors. I hope you've understood what to donate? If not, just decide upon a percentage that you can donate without any stress.

Now moving on to 'how to' donate. There are basically two types of donation here on SN. One is donating (I'm sorry it's called zapping) the good content and one is donating to the top stackers on the leaderboard.

For the first one, I propose every stacker must donate (zap) the top posts and comments everyday to appreciate the best content creators (stackers) for the day. For the second one, I propose stackers must decide any amount to donate but be persistent so that others also follow.

The reason that I've mentioned earlier is sufficient but in case that's not - donate to the leaderboard because the bigger the Daily Reward Pool is, the bigger will be the motivation to create good content on the platform. Don't ask me how a bigger amount in Sats can lead to motivation for good content.

We're so early with our SN community that we don't realise the Zen of Donation at all. I again stress the zen of donation is the zen of motivation for bringing in exceptional Bitcoin content and ultimately bringing every Bitcoiner to the platform.

Just brace it and ask yourself whether you don't want a place on the leaderboard. If not today, won't you strive for it if it will be giving away a million sats everyday where a top stacker starts earning 100k sats for the day. Just imagine what would that day be?

Ultimately the zen of donation is the zen of motivation for stackers by the leaderboard. So,
