Yesterday, the US CPI figures were higher than expected: headline inflation fell to 2.4% (2.3% expected by the Bloomberg consensus) and core inflation even rebounded to 3.3% (expected unchanged at 3.2%). The month-on-month rates were also higher than anticipated. The headline continued to rise at 0.2%, in contrast to an expected slowdown to 0.1%. The core kept rising at 0.3%, instead of slowing down to 0.2% as foreseen by the consensus.
Will this one also have an adjustment, one way or another? It seems that inflation is slowing down somewhat from its highs but is still very bothersome. Which way do you think the adjustments will be headed and how will people react to them?
It's going up forever.
reply
Nope, it won’t do that. The whole financial system would break first and a new currency would be established. At least historically that is what has happened. Don’t you think it will stop?

Upward Inflation or interest adjustments? I gather the outcome is inevitably the same with a long enough time horizon.
Fiat fails.
reply
Since interest is supposed to represent time preference for money, I would say they surly have f*ed up the perceptions of the worth of investments and judgement on when to invest or not. Natural interest rates are determined by how much people have saved and how much people wish to borrow.

All numbers are heavily manipulated and even faked after 2020, that much is obvious!
Consider the inflation for freedom and you'll get a better picture...

It is readily apparent in the case of the lyin’ state. I just love some of the “ADJUSTMENTS” they are making in the bogus data to make everyone have their feelz.

It will look great until its shattered into a trillion pieces!
Hell, I even remember discussing the insanities of things like GPD and a service based economy back in my early teens, that was early to mid eighties...
We literally had these conversations in class, the only thing the teacher could offer was that "no one knows how it will work out"!
reply
He was right! Nobody can foretell the future with exactitude. We were warned that the service economy was a dead end for a nation. I guess nobody was listening, then, either.
reply
Well he was right in spite of being a deluded commie! Hell, he totally believed that the system would "fix it" when we came to where we are now!
The programming runs deep and faaaar back in time...
reply
You may be surprised how far back in time it runs. Also, who put both the fear and the programming in place. It sure wasn’t us. That is why you have to overcome your fears.
reply
Sure, once you get the whole picture there is no fear, only doing - and even though its soooo tempting going out guns blazing is still better to be a bit tactical ;-)
When you deal with a certain type of people there is no direct way, at least not yet...
reply
I don’t even bother with arguing with people that cannot think logically or independently. It is just wasting my breath. There is a saying, “When a drunk and a fool argue, how do you know who is whom.’
