AOC called for him to resign earlier today. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Like Cuomo, the democratic NY establishment hasn't fully supported him, especially since he began to regularly criticize the Biden Administration's immigration policies.

Prosecutors do that so that the defendant is not tipped off that he's going to be arrested. Specifically regarding this case, I don't know.

This is going to be fantastic to watch play out because of the scope and ties. Yeah Cuomo was forced out but he was a one-off whereas New York is having a ton of top people investigated or resigning so there is huge trouble ahead for the city.
AOC hates him since he was a cop and supports cops I am interested in see what the other reps end up saying. He got elected under the guise of tough on crime and so if the city reverts back to its weak on crime ways the city is in deep deep trouble.

I don't know who his allies are. Rank and file NYPD never liked him. He had a reputation for siding with management over the regular cops. National democrats resent his attacks regarding immigration. Despite the rhetoric, his de facto soft on crime administration angers moderates. He's in trouble, and so is the city, as you point out.

The more I think about it yeah you are right I had forgotten about the issues he had with NYPD when he was there. I know he really leaned into that history though for his election with the whole I'm a cop I will crack down etc. etc.
Is what I am about to say fair or nice... no. But I get a chuckle every time I see NYC, Chicago, DC, etc. come to Congress and beg for funds as they all have to deal with immigration and try to paint Texas in a bad light. Look Texas didn't have the space and these were sanctuary cities they paid to send them to. It shows how yeah a policy might sound good and make you feel bubbly and as long as it wasn't your issue.
Once the issue hit their doorsteps these people have freaked out and I can't help but laugh. Eagle Pass when it made national news had I think, 15-20k people and they had literally the same number of people under that bridge trying to come across. That was wild and people were quick in the news to go its just X amount it isn't that bad. Well, what if NYC got 9 million or whatever the pop is in people suddenly coming it cracks the foundations of the city!
All I know is I only think an insane person would run for mayor in that city. Really with all the big cities there isn't a way to do your job and not come out being a villain.

Yeah I mean really looking back at NYC mayors when was the last time there was one that people well... liked.
I know he went off his rocker after his mayorship but it seems like Giuliani ended on the best terms with the city but that was driven by Sept. 11 and his response. Though even that is now much more of a question mark. At least at the time he ended on a high note esp. with his response to that Saudi Prince who tried to donate $10 million to disaster efforts but stated the attacks showed the US needed to reevaluate their Middle East policy... Talk about a wild move on that Saudi Princes part like dude read a room

You're right. Revisionists will deny it, but Giuliani was beloved during his time as mayor. I personally never liked the guy from his days as a truly unhinged authoritarian US Attorney.

Well, he certainly went after them, but was it good? Most of those convictions were overturned. He had these gigantic show trials. But yes, that's how he made his name.
