I am going to push back against this.
While yes going into the markets for pure financial gain and nothing else I can understand your logic but I feel like this approach is throwing the baby out with the bath water.
The major reason I pulled out of the markets ((401(k) mutual funds and index funds) is for two main reasons
-
Regardless of your portfolio performance Wall Street always got their management fee. I think they should get zero fees if your portfolio loses money.

I am so sick and tired of the manipulation and the funding of all the industrial complexes (big pharma, big tech, but most of all the funding of war) . I didn’t want to passively own stupid companies like Walmart who have like 10 family members on the Forbes billionaires list but pay every day American workers shit wages and benefits while being leveraged to the sky with debt.
But the more I think about companies who are doing good things and bringing products and services to better life here in this planet the more I want to invest in those companies. Thus I become more an ideological investor.
Almost any company that owns bitcoin on their balance sheet I want to own. Companies that are providing great products and services have great balance sheets and treat their employees well are the companies I want to buy and hold forever.
Energy companies, utilities companies, companies pushing the boundaries and exploring space. By giving them some of my capital they can continue to deliver to the market thus improving my life and those around me.
