Its funny how people across the pond are able to work 40 hours and actually survive. Especially in some of the northern European countries.

Consumerism is a helluva drug.
Americans are wealthier and our stuff is cheaper, but we're addicted to consuming crap that's mostly bad for us.

Its unheard of. When did our society become like this? Europeans are a lot more health conscious, probably why obesity isnt such a problem over there.

Probably when the Boomers were kids. I think that's when a lot of unhealthy food-like products started entering our diets and needing to own all the latest stuff became a way of life.

You would have thought that the covid pandemic would have made people be more careful and value family more. I remember reading an article that people were saving more money.

Savings did briefly increase, but that's long since been spent and then massive credit card debt has been piled on top.

Right. If only we could have kept on track. There were some good values being instilled during the lockdowns. Not saying lockdown was good or anything.
