One of the best preserved Romanesque style bridges in the world is located in the medieval town of Besalu in Catalunya. It was built in the 12th century and has seven arches and two towers. It’s magnificently photogenic, and is good to photograph both from the bridge itself, and also down by the river.

Oh man.. You just remind me i lost the last medieval fair in Besalu.. damn it.. Nice place.
Are you visiting Catalonia?
reply
Yeah the Medieval Festival was last week and Iwas not able to visit it neither. This was the reason to post some images from Besalu. Nostalgia :)
I will visit Catalunya again in November. The photos are from one old trip around Olot area.

Has it been rebuilt or been preserved since middle age?
reply
GM. Thank you for your reply. It has been rebuild many times after the conflict with Barcelona. Besalu was one of the small Catalan Countries during 10th-12th century and there was a short war with Barcelona. It was blown up during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and rebuilt in the 1950s-1960s. After that it has few minor repairs.
