It's been a pretty smooth transition in welcoming our new dog into the home. Since she has never lived indoors, there have been a few accidents, and she can't differentiate between chew toys and shoes, chairs, plastic dog dishes, etc. Overall, though, it's been great. Our older dog has been jealous and resistant, but she's slowly coming around. Cassie, the white dog, is the new adoptee. Sophie, the black dog, is the wary OG pet.

Glad to know she's getting along!
What do you mean by accidents here?
Is she learning rapidly or just making mockery of everything?

She peed and pooped indoors once. I think she's got the hang of it now. I have trained many dogs in my life, and the one thing I can't tolerate is going to the bathroom inside. Usually the little ones are the hardest to housebreak.
Overall, she's very trainable. I use basic Schutzhund Obedience stuff.
Our cat is mercilessly screwing with the new girl. Our old girl knows how to handle him.

That's great when You're a dog trainer. It'll be easy for you for sure. My dog never did inside except once when I was out of town for maore than 5 days, it peed because noone at home listened to her at night. Also, there's some advantage, we have a large open area, like a garden, in our home.
Do you have such garden or open space within your home or not?

No. I wish I lived in a climate with indoor and outdoor space in my home. I can't even let her run in our yard. Too many ticks carrying lime and raccoons carrying lepto.

You have racoons there? That's great! Do people pet racoons as well? I've listened that at some places place people pet wild animals in USA. I remember watching a movie from Hollywood where someone had bear as pet.

We have many raccoons. They are considered wild animals and not pets. Our next door neighbor is known as the crazy raccoon lady. She is a wildlife rehabilitator who helps raccoons. However, she also keeps them as pets, even though it's not legal in the US. She once showed me a photo of her husband and their favorite pet raccoon sitting on their couch watching football. Because she domesticates them, there are many tame raccoons around our property. Years ago we had a big outdoor barbecue for family and friends. I was barbecuing steaks and chicken. I looked down and saw a raccoon standing on two legs sniffing and begging for meat. I knew he was harmless, but our guests were terrified. I called up the raccoon lady to come and get him. She came over, picked him up, and took her back to her house. Our guests were shocked.

Earlier he used to get all the love but now he feels that the love has been divided, hence he must be feeling like this.

Hahaha, I couldnโt stop smiling remembering our dog when she came. Soon after, she decided to chew part of the stairs. Fortunately, she changed her chewing habits.

I had a puppy once. I had to go on a business trip and asked my parents to watch her. I told them to keep her in the crate. They didn't want to. They felt it was cruel. They told me how well behaved she was when I returned. She entertained herself, they said. They didn't realize until I spotted it that the innocent puppy had gnawed through the wooden base of their fancy dining room table.

How great to be able to have the space and availability to have several pets, and the adoption of these tender little creatures is very admirable. I hope he adapts soon so that he stops biting things. I am sure that with the love and affection he will receive in that home, he will soon make his transition to a happy pet that does not break things.๐๐

Glad it's going well and Cassie is settling in. When we lived in the city our neighbour had a black lab named Sophie that we used to dog sit for on occasion. Neat coincidence that your black dog is also named Sophie.

I feed them human grade meat from a guy I know in the neighborhood. They get beef, chicken, lamb, and pork on alternate days. They eat better than many people.
