Ah, it is a thing! You can do it with Trezor: https://trezor.io/passwords/

This is nice because the keys can be cold - you just need to keep the device with you and interface with it safely.

Edit: there might be good reason to not do this however. Your "keys" which would grant access to 

 your accounts would be hot in your phone/browser extension.
