Thanks for the post. I'm very interested in different dog breeds, but I have never heard of this one. I wonder if there are any in the US? I'd like to see one in person, though I guess I should keep my distance at first!
There are many breeds of dogs. I suppose there must be some in the US, but it is not common. Well, as with any dog, you must first be cautious, although this breed of dog is generally quite friendly. Do you know the dog that originated in Peru?

They call him a "calato" dog (it is a colloquial word from Peru that means naked) because he has no hair.

I'll be honest, the first time I saw him in person I was horrified, I said: Oh my god, what happened to that dog? How horrible. The person I was with said: Shhhh, don't say that out loud here, he's the national dog of Peru. After that I've seen many of those dogs.
This is what it says on the website:
This breed is characterized by being intelligent, loyal and affectionate. They are very sociable dogs that get along well with other animals and are especially affectionate with their owners. In addition, they are excellent playmates for children, as they are playful and energetic.

It's the impression you get at first sight, especially if you've never heard of them. If you see them by surprise, it's quite shocking. I've never interacted with one of those dogs. People here are very jealous of their dogs.
