2024 NFL Survivor Pool (pool administered via @NFLsurvivor2024 by @grayruby)
Open to all stackers who want to participate!
BUY IN:
10,000 sats zapped to @NFLsurvivor2024 by end of day Sept 2nd. Buy in will be open starting tomorrow. I will make a post specifically for the buy in. Reply to the post stating you want to buy in. This account will reply to your comment. Zap that reply 10k sats. Please don't zap the buy in post itself- that got very confusing last year with many buy ins coming in a short period of time.
RULES:
  • Each week every player still alive in the pool will review the week's games schedule and pick one team to win straight up (spread doesn't matter). If the team you selected that week loses, you are eliminated. If the team you selected wins, you move on to the next week. (Ties will be considered losses- your team must win to move on)
  • You can only select a team one time. (i.e if you select the Chiefs in Week 1 you cannot use them again)
  • If you are eliminated, there will be one opportunity per player to buy back into the pool (also 10,000 sats) up until week 10 (you can buy back in for a loss in week 9 or anytime before but not after). There will be no rebuys permitted after week 10. If eliminated and you wish to buy back in, you must submit your rebuy payment and pick in time for the upcoming week's selection deadline. Reminder a team cannot be selected more than once (if you lose with the Chiefs in week 1 and choose to rebuy, the chiefs are still off the board for you).
  • Anytime after week 5 the last player to use the rebuy will be eligible for 20% of the final pot if they do not win the whole pool. This also comes into effect if one player reaches the rebuy deadline without using a rebuy. If multiples player are tied as last to use the rebuy or reach the rebuy deadline without using it the 20% payout is void and goes to the final pot.
  • The lone survivor at the end of the pool wins either 80% or 100% of the pot depending on the outcome of the rebuy rule payout above.
ADMIN and DEADLINES
  • A list of games for the upcoming week's schedule, along with a list of remaining players, will be posted on Tuesdays (hopefully by 12pm est).
  • Pick Submission Deadline will be as follows:
a) Thursday 6pm est for players picking a team that is playing in the Thursday night game. b) Sunday 12am est for players picking teams from the Sunday slate of games. c) Saturday 12am est for players picking teams from the Saturday slate of games. (Saturday games only start in week 16 so may not be relevant)
FYI there are games being played in Europe starting in Week 4. These games start at 9:30am est so please stick to the Sunday 12am est deadline to avoid Sunday morning chaos. FYI there are also a couple Friday games this year. Thanksgiving day games played on a Thursday afternoon and Christmas Day games played on a Wednesday afternoon. In the unlikely event the pool reaches these dates please ensure picks are in by 12am est the day of these games if you are picking teams playing in them.
  • I will do my best to send reminders for players who have not gotten picks in and there is some flexibility with the deadlines provided picks are in before games begin but it would be incredibly helpful if everyone got their picks in by the deadlines.
TIEBREAKERS
  • If the final 2 or more players are eliminated on the same week and we are out of rebuys or past the rebuy cut off of Week 10, the winner will be decided by point differential from that week's games. Whichever player's team lost by the smallest margin will be deemed the winner.
  • If we still have a tie after point differential (teams lost by the same amount or players selected the same losing team that week), we will go to a playoff between tied participants for the upcoming week of games. If that week ends in a tie (both win or both lose), we will go to the point differential tiebreaker again to determine a winner. If still tied we will go to another playoff week until we have a clear winner.
  • In the unlikely event a game is cancelled and not rescheduled prior to the upcoming week's slate of games any players who selected teams in the cancelled game will be carried forward to the next week where they will need to pick 2 winners to move on. Unless carrying them forward causes them to win the pool, at which point they will need to pick 1 game to win and we will revert to tiebreaker rules if they lose that game.
WINNER WINNER
  • Once we have a clear winner, this Survivor Pool account will post an announcement on the Tuesday following the 'winning weekend', announcing the winner, and total prize pool they earned. The winner will respond and sats will be zapped to them (yes, this means a 10% fee will be taken off but it goes to rewards pool, and we cannot deposit over 100k sats into an account anymore).
Please feel free to reach out if anything in the rules is not clear or if you think something has been missed and needs to be added.
Good Luck in the 2024 pool!

Is it one game for every team every week?

You guys have a lot of competitions going on! I love American football, is it for the same? What about 10000 sats? If I lose in the first week, I lose the pool right?
reply
Yes if you don’t buy back in.
I run a weekly pick ‘em contest during football season that is free to join.

Thanks! I'll see my options. Because I'm not well informed about this game, I'll be following all your posts, if not participating will be gladly zapping 100 sats to each. Just tell me where to do it.

What happens if someone gets his first strike in week 10?
He can’t buy in despite having a great season
reply
Correct. Last year we had the rebuy deadline in week 9 but moved it back a week since we instituted the potential payout for last player to use rebuy. I can move it later if that's what everyone wants to do but the whole idea of the rebuy was to have the pool not end too early. If someone makes it until week 10 without using the rebuy they are likely to win the 20% payout. We only had one person make it to week 9 last year (as we didn't have the 20% rule at that time) I zapped them 10k sats (their original buy in) as a bonus.

Current Pool Rules and Deadlines have been added to this account's bio for easy reference throughout the pool.

Zapping the comment will lose the sybil fee. Is that OK?
reply
Yes that is fine. Last year it worked out ok as this account got enough zaps and rewards throughout the pool to cover the lost fees from buy in and rebuy zaps.
