Hi stackers!
Hope you're enjoying your weekends!
I mentioned in an earlier post #658644 about my trip to Delhi got postponed and I got a two days off which was over yesterday. For today, it was once again a lot of travel and lot of phone calls.
However it was Sunday, I had to go because It's not a holiday when you run a logistics business. As they say, we can stop anything but not the supply chain!
New Delhi is 240 KMs (160 miles) from my town. I had a very normal meeting scheduled for there at 1 PM. In the morning, I started early at 7 AM and reached there by 11: 30, had lunch and then attended the meeting for 1 and half hour. Then, I went shopping a little bit in search of some Dog stuff as my brother asked me to buy for our dog. All done by 4 in the evening and I started to drive back home.
I was driving at normal speeds and suddenly a thought crept up my mind. I thought of testing speed for at least once in my life. TBH, I'm a very cool driver who drives at very normal speeds. But, it was as it was. I pressed the accelerator of my 1200 CC, 3 cylinder small car for the first time after I had bought it last year on August 10. I reached 80 to 140 KMs an hour within a minute and added 40 more in another minute. I was driving the car at almost 180 KMs an hour for the first time in my life. I must confess, it felt scary, not because the car had any issues but these are Indian roads with too much traffic. However it was an expressway yet felt like it was too much. I could hardly drive at that speed for 2 minutes and gradually slowed down to 110 - 120 kms range. Still, it was fast enough. I turned on the cruise control at 110 and let the car ride on ADAS for a while without touching the steering. It went all smooth and surprisingly, I was back to my home in 2 hours and 10 minutes!
To remind you all, in the morning the same journey took me 4 and a half hour! I accept I did something crazy today and I believe everyone has done some crazy stuff at some point in his life.
I've shared mine. Now it's your turn to share,
What's the craziest thing you've ever done?
I had gone to one of the most dangerous hiking in the himalyas

Yes, where?

That's not the most scary!
You should do kinnaur Kailash the the next time.
reply
I thought so. I wouldn't want to go to that place again. May be Kinnaur Kailash will be very dangerous. But I have never gone there
reply
Yes it is! But you gonna love it if you love trekking!

Once in your live take a trip to Germany and test one of their good highways (Frankfurt-Munich for example) wait till you get out of town and then you can test your "soul speed" :-) When the clock turns 230-245 you will realize you are in a different world. One wrong move and you will meet your maker...lol Now, that's fun if you ask me... YMMV of course (pun intended)

Wtf dude, never understood these types of speeds.
reply
It is a different planet, normally they limit the speed electronically to 155mph (250 km/h) but of course you can find a mechanic "friend" that can lift that limit/block. It's basically how fast YOU are able to drive, not the car... it's nuts lol

That was crazy, Nan!
I know most of our fellow stackers will think it was not so crazy. I say, drive on Indian roads.
My craziest moments are from my childhood. I used to climb up a relatively not so high 40 feet rock. Then jump into a pond 26 feet deep. Whe I go that place nod, I can't do it now.

i climbed up a vertical rock wall outdoors to a heigh of about 40 ft, solo, using only a short lanyard for clipping into protection (technical name is "daisy chain solo climb").
there were about 4 moments where i had 5 seconds of having zero protection, and it was a moderately challenging climb. meaning, there were 20 seconds total of being very close to ending up dead or severely injured. however, i was under an enthenogen and it was a wonderful sunny day, so it was not scary.

This one's crazy!!

I took a sketchy mile or so cable car in Albania right before a thunderstorm. It was a rusty old cable car with several hundred foot drop off. It was super sketchy and screeched the entire time. Definitely the craziest thing I have done!

Dumpster diving for food. There's a LOT of waste food out there in the dumpsters behind grocery stores.
I read about this in a book called "The Art & Science Of Dumpster Diving". It was available through Paladin Press, I got their catalog for a while many years ago. They had all kinds of books that today would probably be unpublishable. Many of them are available through annas-archive.org.
Anyway - it was never an absolute necessity, but it was always a blast, like treasure hunting, never knew what you would find.
reply
I didn't know about that.

I remember that the craziest thing I've ever done in my life is talking to someone all night and being cold like two crazy people, by the way, she's my wife now 😅.
