pull down to refresh

Minnesota under Walz became merely a smaller version of Gavin Newsom’s California - shameless woke pandering, wars against fossil fuels, fiscal nihilism, thousands fleeing the state, high crime, high taxes, poor services, sanctuary city/pro-illegal alien activism, eroding downtowns of once majestic cities, loud-in-your-face, attack-dog denials of reality, a two-tier state legal system, tolerance of BLM/Antifa/Hamas street violence, and on and on.
So, the real Harris-Walz campaign messaging will be: 'In 2024 we have to lie and mislead you about who we are and what we did, so that in 2025 we can govern you in ways you will not like.’
I'm enjoying this way too much. Did you react?
So, I wanna know
If not Harris-Walz, what combination by Dems would have been stronger against Trump-Vance?
Victor Davis Hanson wrote this piece. He is one of the most knowledgeable pundits in America. I say pundit but his background is in classics and military history.
He was born in 1953 so he can personally recall every president race since 1968 perhaps earlier. He compares Harris to the Democrat candidate in 1972 and 1980 and 1988. The similarities are valid. Except those candidates were more articulate and competent than Harris
reply
Hey, you have to realize in every race there is a loser.
reply
He is talking about candidate qualities and ideology
I remember the 1988 race. I remember the Willie Horton commercial. Lee Atwater was the campaign manager. By August 1, Dukakis had 17 point lead in the polls which I was skeptical of. By Labor Day that lead had vanished. That should have been my first hint that polls are inaccurate. Bush won 1988 decisively.
reply
If only Ron Paul would run, or Rand Paul.
reply
I dont think Walz was a very good governor in MN, was he?
reply
It was a surprising and interesting pick. He is from a swing state but doesn't have a very moderate record.
reply
I also don't understand what are Dems thinking? It may be that are in search of a candidate for 28. Kamala and Walz will lose and they'll come up with a new combo.
reply
Good point. Might be a hedge. If they get lucky and win then they take the win but if the lose they keep their better candidates for the next one.

reply
This will be tough to beat
reply
they have a late convention in Chicago, August 19
reply
They should have picked Shapiro or Mark Kelly
Walz is a disaster
reply
Walz seems ambitious enough.
reply
The problem is his record and personal history. He lied about his military service. He had a drunk driving incident: he drove 96 in a 55 mile per hour area.
Edit:
reply
That will get him votes in wisconsin.
reply
because Harley Davidson is based in Wisconsin?
edit: WI won't matter if they lost PA
reply
No, because in wisconsin people dont care about dwis.
reply
I feel they picked him because he is relatively safe. Compare him to Trump or Vance, he looks like a saint. Even though he had a DWI.
reply
Safe because he is anti-Israel and Lutheran?
His record as governor is not moderate.
He let Minnepolis burn for 4 days in 2020.
reply
That is right, he did let it burn for a while. It picked itself up, I think. I wasnt all for what he said during covid. He seemed a bit harsher than other presidents at the time.
reply
MN had a covid snitching hotline
reply
What? Really? I didnt hear about that! I remember they said families couldnt gather for holidays or events.
Our politics are so corrupt that I would not be surprised if Harris wins and they will try to tell us it was all legitimate. Personally I stopped wasting my energy on all these clowns. Let the chips fall where they may, our life will not drastically change in January when the new "head of state" takes the reigns. It is advisable to concentrate what really matters to you (your health, education, family, etc) and enjoy as much as you can. When you need some chuckle then turn the TV on (do we still have cable TV? I heard its gone now) and laugh your head off, because that's all what we can do about it. YMMV of course.

I'm often surprised to hear from US politicians. They talk too much sarcastically about their opponents!
