Matt Odell and many others in the bitcoin community have been critical of Michael Saylor for appearing to see bitcoin as an asset rather than as money.
After watching Saylor sit down with Odell at Bitcoin Park ,
and based on Matt's comments on Rabbit Hole Recap, he seems satisfied that Saylor believes in bitcoin for transactions. Saylor's rationale is that US tax laws currently make bitcoin impractical as money in the US, but otherwise he sees bitcoin as money, particularly on the Lightning Network. What do stackers think? Do you believe Saylor?

I have expressed my opinion on this. I think Saylor due to his profile is very strategic about downplaying Bitcoin as competition to the USD. I don't really fault him for this. He has to be more measured in what he says than the plebs. I don't always agree with the way he describes Bitcoin but I kind of understand why he does what he does.

Plebs don't have to worry about investigations and lawsuits from SEC and IRS

Saylor is a great salesmen for bitcoin to the suits. For a suit he's about as based as you can hope for. IMO he is better at selling BTC than Dorsey though I think Dorsey is as based if not more.

Agreed.

You make a good argument. I honestly am still not sure how I feel. He's a brilliant guy, but I still smell a whiff of the huckster about him. In the end, it probably doesn't matter. HBDC

Yeah, I get the huckster vibe to. But who is he tricking? HBDC

For me it's "Saylor is just appearing the plebs".

Saylor is appeasing the plebs.

I've just never liked Saylor because he always seems to pretend to attract more wealth. We just need to ask if bitcoin needs Saylors?

Saylor is playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He’s seen the matrix. While most are scared to put skin in the game, Saylor is wearing the game! We’re witnessing a masterclass in conviction, leveraging the very fabric of the financial ecosystem to create unparalleled wealth.

TLDR:
I don't really care. Don't create heroes. They will disappoint you. Many such cases.
Long answer:
Saylor is a statist. I don't mean that as crassly as it sounds. Most of my friends and family are more statist than Saylor. He also runs a public company. It kinda makes me chuckle how bent out of shape people get about good ole Mike. Mike is far more based than most bitcoiners IMO. The balls to do what he has done are incredible. Most of us have far less to lose than Mike.
If he's being honest in his statements it makes sense. He's running a company and being in the public eye is a big deal. Its his money. Its his company. Its his neck on the line. We will never live in a world where we all agree on bitcoin. Never gonna happen guys. I hate to break it to you.
Go live your life. Mike can't change bitcoin.

As much as I have great deal of respect for Saylor and Odell, I don't let them define what bitcoin is to me. The only person/group that has come close to defining what bitcoin is to me is Satoshi Nakamoto. BITCOIN: A peer-to-peer electronic cash. I always capitalize the word "CASH." At the same time, it's limited suppy provides me with a store of value.

Remember Cheers?
Carla says to Mayor John Flynn: Mr Mayor, I voted for you twice... on the same day

I used to say that every election anywhere I worked to see if I got a reaction. Would just float over people.
Then when I stopped voting, for a while I enjoyed telling people I didn't vote to watch them lose their minds...
I used to be more of a troll. I guess I've matured a bit... but not completely.

I notice this year that telling someone you are not going to vote usually inspires fury. This is true regardless of who the person is supporting.

I encourage people not to vote

I think he needs to play it safe to appease everyone. Or he will just be disappeared like others.

Bitcoin is a tool that doesn't care how you use it.
Saylor is an ex-CEO-now-Chairman of a large tech company and also has a massive generational wealth to preserve, so that's his focus.
He may be the best in mentoring you how to do that in your company. But if you need advice on Bitcoin-as-medium-of-exchange, just go somewhere else.
