"Pizza Index" Rises to Its Highest Level in Recent Hours
What is the "Pizza Index"?
When employees at sensitive U.S. government offices work intensely and continuously without breaks, they order from nearby pizza restaurants. This indicates they are extremely busy with significant political or military events that may be imminent.
The term emerged to describe the correlation between increased pizza orders and the occurrence of important or sensitive events within institutions such as the Pentagon or the White House.
Although this metric is not scientific and is sometimes used for entertainment, it has proven to be highly effective in past instances, with some claiming it has never been wrong.
It is considered by those interested as an open-source intelligence measure for the real world to predict impending significant events.
Examples:
- On October 25, 1983, there was a rise in pizza sales in U.S. government offices, followed by the Grenada invasion.
- On August 1, 1990, there was a significant increase in pizza deliveries to the Pentagon, with the Kuwait invasion occurring the next day, August 2.
- On November 17, 1995, a phenomenon locally known as "Pizza Night" occurred, followed by the Monica Lewinsky scandal involving President Clinton.
- On April 13, 2024, there was a significant increase in pizza orders from restaurants near the Pentagon and the White House, followed hours later by Iranian missiles striking Israel.
