It was a victim of its own early success. They marketed the crap out of if before the premiere and it did huge numbers the first couple weeks and then tailed off. Made it look like people weren't interested but I think overall the numbers were decent and warranted a second season but because the drop off was so dramatic from the first couple weeks the network didn't want to risk it.
