I didn't read that as claiming it happened, but saying it is something Trump would do. In fact, those are the words he used as you quoted.

I'm almost certain this didn't happen (and as you know, I'm decidedly not a Trump fan).
His only rally that day was in St. Cloud, and the speech is online. I'm not going to sit through ninety minutes (or even ninety seconds) of him speaking, but searching the transcript, he only mentions btc briefly when talking about his day, noting that he went from talking to evangelicals to talking to bitcoiners, talking about how broadly his campaign was focusing.

Yeah, I think his sign-off at the btc conference ("have a good time with your Bitcoin and your crypto and everything else that you're playing with") summed up what he thinks of btc perfectly.

Me too. It's not clear, but I think the author is implying that he has done this with other issues in the past. I'm not sure, though.
